Upon rumors of Miguel Oliveira and Fabio Di Giannantonio being on the Japanese’s list, DAZN’s Ricardo Jové throws an unexpected name into the mill – Fermin Aldeguer.

The Spaniard has been on a high of form in recent weeks and had been linked with a possible exit from his current team at SpeedUp all season long.

Jovè confirmed on Twitter: “Today I can confirm this information, and we can already take for granted that Fermin Aldeguer has a firm offer from HRC to accompany Joan Mir in 2024/25.”

The Spaniard explains in a reply to a user that Aldeguer has received an offer for a one-year contract with an option for a second season with Honda.

Aldeguer who turned 18 this year is currently in his third season in Moto2 and had been going through some rough times before finding his mojo on his Boscoscuro Moto2 bike in recent weeks.

HRC’s offer comes at a time when Fabio Di Giannantonio is heavily linked to the vacant seat next to Joan Mir and the Japanese manufacturers looks to find a Marquez replacement before the end-of-season test at Valencia.

In a time when Honda is struggling to be anywhere near the top of the class, bringing in a young, inexperienced rider like Aldeguer, who, although showcasing a lot of talent at just 18 years old, had his ups and downs in Moto2, seems more like a gamble than a clever business decision ahead of one of the most important seasons for the Japanese manufacturer.
