For Marc Marquez, Friday was all about risk. The Spaniard crashed in both free practice sessions but finished the day in fourth place – even though the HRC rider has a cold.

Marc Marquez recorded two crashes on practice Friday in Valencia. A harmless one in the morning in turn 2, a fast one in the afternoon in the first turn.

However, the Spaniard remained uninjured and even emphasized, he was able to ride “normally” again that day – without being restricted by his damaged upper arm.

The 2019 world champion reports: “The day was positive – I could attack. For this reason, I then crashed twice. But I put the pressure on from the start since it’s the last weekend and I want to have a good race.”

Again, Marquez was the fastest Honda rider by quite some margin. And all that despite him being sick.

I have a cold. Unfortunately, you can never choose, but I have to take vitamins and medicine”, Marquez states. “I hope I will feel better on Sunday.”

Although crashing twice on Friday, it was a quiet start to Marquez’ Valencia Grand Prix weekend. Until the end of FP2 on Friday afternoon.

At the end of FP2, Suzuki rider Alex Rins bumped slightly into the rear wheel of Marc Márquez before the start attempt. Marquez took the situation lightly.

“Alex already wanted to jump on the Honda for next year,” he joked. “In the last few races, he has played a lot. It will be very interesting to see how he does on the Honda next year. But it wasn’t a problem, I like those kinds of games.”
