Jorge Martin Dismisses Yamaha Rumors - 2025 "Hopefully In Red"
Categories: MotoGP
In early 2023 rumours emerge Jorge Martin could be looking for a way out of the Ducati MotoGP structure. Yamaha could snatch Martin from under the Italians’ noses.
A week ago in Jerez, Yamaha Superbike rider Toprak Razgatlioglu got another chance at testing Yamaha’s MotoGP bike. Since then speculations about the Japanese’s possible 2024 rider line-up emerged.
However, since many contracts are running out at the end of the 2023 season, naturally, some big names are considered for the spot next to 2021 World Champion Fabio Quartararo.
Having lost the battle for the factory Ducati seat against Enea Bastianini last season, Jorge Martin is shaping up to become a name to look out for during MotoGP’s silly season.
Should Franco Morbidelli not be able to maintain his current form, the Japanese could find a worthy replacement in the young Spaniard.
Yamaha team boss Lin Jarvis told motogp.com: “He’s very good, but there are a lot of good riders out there. You could consider someone in the MotoGP grid, but also from Moto2. I really don’t want to talk about names at this stage though. Our priority is Franky.”
And Martin himself, too, is keen to dispel the rumours as quickly as possible. He is not interested in the Yamaha seat at the moment. He would rather fight for a place in the Ducati factory team for 2025.
“I feel that I am fast and consistent and can show very good races. My goal is to do a good job and hopefully be next to Pecco after 2024 – so in red.”
