Herve Poncharal Sets Tech3 KTM Goals For The Second Half Of The Season

Categories:  MotoGP

After a rather dissapointing first half of the season, Tech3 KTM team manager Herve Poncharal has set new goals for the satellite team.

For a team that has been in MotoGP for more than ten years, Tech3’s record in the 2022 season is not what you would call flattering. With just six points finishes across the first half of the season, the results are speaking for themselves.

At the start of the season, the French team signed Moto2 Champion Remy Gardner and his teammate Raul Fernandez. Since then, both rookies are yet to adapt to their Tech3 KTMs.

Team manager Herve Poncharal expresses his dissapointment with the end of the first half in Assen. He states: “[We were] expecting to finish the first half of the season on a higher note. But we still have a long way to go, so we will keep pushing.”

Regarding the team’s goals for the second half of the season, the Frenchman says: “As I have been saying since the very first round, our target is to reduce the gap between the KTM Factory Racing and the Tech3 KTM Factory Racing teams.”

As of now, the team’s goals haven’t been achieved in any way. Tech3 KTM still holds the second to last position in  the team championship. The bike doesn’t seem to be improving much.

So much so, that both riders are openly expressing their dissatisfaction and are in talks with other teams. Raul Fernandez might have found a seat at the RNF Aprilia team for 2023.

Although, his teammate Remy Gardner has been concistently better than him, the Australian seems to be in a darker place. The 2020 Moto2 Champion is reportedly open for a switch to World Superbike “if there is no space in MotoGP”.
