Alex Rins will also be missing the San Marino Grand Prix in Misano. The Japanese are running out of replacement riders.

After his tibia and fibula fracture suffered in Mugello at the beginning of June, Alex Rins was back on a motorcycle for the first time last week.

He tested with a production bike at Motorland Aragon. However, the test was sobering for Rins. He still does not feel able to ride a MotoGP bike.

The Spaniard’s cancellation puts his employer Honda in a bind. The now accustomed to the RC213V replacement rider Lecuona will not be available at the San Marino Grand Prix.

The Spaniard must pursue his main job as HRC regular rider in the World Superbike Championship.

Since Stefan Bradl will already be competing as a wildcard rider in Misano and Honda test rider Tetsuta Nagashima will be testing new parts in Motegi for the subsequent MotoGP test in Misano, Honda is bringing an old acquaintance back into the paddock.

On the San Marino Grand Prix weekend, Takumi Takahashi will take the open seat in the LCR Honda satellite team.

The Japanese rider thus returns to the MotoGP grid after a single wildcard appearance at Motegi in 2015. He last competed in the British Superbike Championship, finishing 20th at the end of the 2022 season.
