With two races left on the calendar, the Malaysian Grand Prix this weekend is Bagnaia’s first match point on his way to becoming a first-time MotoGP World Champion.
Bagnaia cannot yet secure the world title on his own. He has to hope for bad results from his rivals – especially Fabio Quartararo.
Regardless of the results of his rivals, Bagnaia needs at least a fifth-place finish at the Malaysian Grand Prix to secure the title. If he manages a result in the top five, the arithmetic begins.
