With the summer break keeping every MotoGP fan in a state of bored cryostasis and big parts of the paddock free for vacations and family time, we have a look at three MotoGP riders that are most under pressure for the remainder of the season.

Takaaki Nakagami

After a season with ups and downs in 2021, resluts for Takaaki Nakagami needed to stabilize and slightly improve.

In 2022, the Japanese showed some decent speed and achieved several top ten results. However, still, he fights the beast that is called consistency for him.

With mistake like in Barcelona, when he took out Alex Rins and Francesco Bagnaia, Nakagami damaged his reputation in the paddock and will have to fear being replaced by Ai Ogura who could move up from Moto2.

According to recent rumours, Nakagami could end up as Honda test rider next to Stefan Bradl since other options, i.e. WorldSBK, are limited.

Enea Bastianini & Jorge Martin

With Jack Miller leaving Ducati and joining KTM on a two-year deal, the vacant spot next to Francesco Bagnaia has become a huge talking poing across the MotoGP paddock.

Since the early part of the season, Enea Bastianini, three time race winner this year, and Jorge Martin, Rookie of the Year in 2021, have been linked with the Ducati seat. However, only one can get the factory spot in red.

After the first seven races, Bastianini was the clear favourite but despite his three wins, there hasn’t been much from the Italian since.

Martin on the other side has just woke up after issues with his feeling for the front and a change to the standard setup.  Unless the decision is made during the summer break, both riders will have the pressure on them to outperform the other.
