Franco Morbidelli Reveals When He Expects A MotoGP Future Decision

For 2024 Franco Morbidelli is becoming one of the hottest irons in the MotoGP paddock. The Italian reveals when a decision on his future can be expected.
After two disappointing seasons in the Yamaha factory team, the 2023 campaign is going much better for Franco Morbidelli.
Although his Yamaha YZR-M1 does not deliver the desired performance, with two fourth places in Argentina, the Italian showed that he is back on the right track.
With a contract expiring at the end of 2023, Morbidelli’s MotoGP future is at stake. Had long speculated whether Yamaha would extend with the Italian, it was at the Dutch Grand Prix the 28-year-old himself questioned a further cooperation.
Morbidelli explained he had “a plan B for 2024 and also a plan C in MotoGP”. Since then, there have been rumors that the Italian could join Gresini Ducati or the VR46 Racing Team next year.
While MotoGP’s silly season has only just begun with the summer break, Morbidelli would like certainty about his future quite soon.
Speaking to Motorsport.com, he explained, “I hope and I think that after the summer break, we will know more about my future.”
However, no matter where the Italian ends up signing on for 2024, he will continue to fight for Yamaha until the end of the season.
“We are fully focused on working to improve this situation. I’m just more focused and motivated to do a better job as a rider, to be consistent, to be fast, to push the maximum, to push the limits. And that’s exactly what we’re doing.”
