Fabio Quartararo Excited for Sepang Test - What Makes the Frenchman Optimistic
Categories: MotoGP
Fabio Quartararo can hardly wait for the first outing on his M1. At the Shakedown Test, the Frenchman looks over the shoulder of the test team.
To give Fabio Quartararo the best possible chance for the 2023 World Championship fight, Yamaha is working hard on their bike for the coming season.
The first new features were already tested during the shakedown test in Sepang. The main focus, however, lay on preparing the machines for the actual test this weekend.
Regular rider Quartararo came to the last day of the shakedown test to watch the test team at work and get some impressions of his new bike.
“I came to Sepang a bit early and spent some time at the track during the shakedown test.”
The Frenchman then wants to get into the action himself next weekend. After all, the new bike does not improve on its own.
“It will be a very long season. We have to work well in the tests to make sure we are ready for it.”
Yamaha team boss Massimo Meregalli reveals that there is a lot of work ahead for the crew. They have “things here” for all areas of the bike “to evaluate”.
The Italian lists: “The amount of parts they have prepared for this test is really huge: we have updates for the chassis, the aerodynamics, the swingarm and the engine.”
For this weekend’s test, Meregalli expects Friday morning to be used by the regular riders, in particular, to “get back up to speed”.
“After that, an intensive work schedule awaits them. We will try to get as much done as possible to start 2023 the right way.”
The fact that Quartararo was already on site earlier should help. What the Frenchman has already gotten to see makes him optimistic.
“I’ve heard and seen positive things and now I can’t wait to try it out myself. I’m looking forward to testing the 2023 spec and seeing what progress we’ve made.”
