Enea Bastianini: "A Bit Harder To Ride, But It's Fun"

In the new year, Enea Bastianini will compete for the Ducati factory team in MotoGP for the first time. Will the Italian be able to fight for the top of the championship?

After an outstanding second MotoGP season with four victories, Enea Bastianini is joining the Ducatisti factory team for the new season.

“It will definitely be a big challenge, but also a great opportunity for me,” Bastianini explained. “We will do our best and try to have fun – as always.”

In Valencia, the young Italian was already able to ride his new bike around the track at the post-season test. The first parts have also already been tested.

“We already tested something in Valencia, but I think we will only get the definitive bike at the last test before the season starts.”

Bastianini seems to have managed the changeover to the GP23 after the first test. The Italian is optimistic but admits that the new bike is harder to ride. “I definitely liked the new bike though. Maybe it’s a bit harder to ride, but it’s fun.”

The slight, if any, difficulties will be sorted out by the start of the season in late March next year. Then Bastianini will try to fight for the MotoGP crown for the first time as a factory rider.

“Next year I will give it a try. We will try to win the world title, but it is always difficult to confirm such a fantastic season as this year.”

In 2022, there were tough but fair battles with his now teammate Pecco Bagnaia at several venues.

Knowing that he will be fighting for the championship himself in 2023, Bastianini shows that he does not plan to completely subordinate himself to his new teammate and world champion.

“Of course, there will be some sparks on the track because we are all here to give 100 percent,” the Italian is convinced.”

Bastianini assures, “The bike is very fast and I think you can do very well in this team. With Pecco I can work together, I’m very motivated and I’m looking forward to getting started.”
